“Will the Ga Traditional Council also ban the use of generators till June 11?” - Barima Sidney asks

‘Donkomi’ singer, Barima Sidney has questioned the essence of the Ga-Traditional Council’s order to the Ghana Police Service to stop the #DumsorMustStop vigil due to its annual ban on drumming and dancing precedes the celebration of the Ga festival, Homowo which starts from Monday May 11 to Thursday June 11, 2015.

“Although the vigil falls within the ban on noise making, will the #DumsorMustStop vigil make noise than the use of generators, now that it has become a seeming ‘light-saviour’ to some Ghanaians? Or the use of generators will also be ban during the ‘Alagb3me’ period?” he asked.

Adding, “I ask because the vigil is not to make noise, instead some of us including the advocacy leaders, Yvonne Nelson and Sarkodie have decided to stay awake to observe in the darkness as we have gradually become used to now.”

He further indicated, “for what I know, a vigil is no noise making activity, but rather an observation ceremony and the #DumsorMustStop vigil is not to gather the huge number of Ghanaians to play music for them because even on the night of May 16, I have a strong believe there will be no light as usual.”

According to Barima Sidney, he is baffled at the fact that a vigil that is be held in the interest of the ‘ordinary’ Ghanaian person, who have no say than rather endure the power crisis until the coming year, 2016 which is an election year when they will be provided with power is rather being politicized and going through these difficulties of acquiring a venue for it.

Speaking to AmaLarbieAfrica, Barima Sidney disclosed, “Some of my friends in the ruling told me point blank when Yvonne’s campaign hit international fronts that the noise making about the power crisis and the intended vigil to be held is all waste of time, hence, will do their possible best to stop it from going on.”

“And due to the difficulties that has become the main bane of the organizers; I am forced to believe that indeed, these friends of mine are behind it,” he said thoughtfully.

The vigil is being organised by award-winning movie actress Yvonne Nelson and colleagues such as Ama K. Abebrese, DKB, Van Vicker, EL, Sarkodie, Kwaw Kese, Efya, D-Black, Confident Haugen, Nicky Sammona and others.
