For many who have no idea how it all started for renowned and legend music producer and CEO of Last 2 Music Group, Edward Nana Osei Poku, known in the ShowBiz as Da’ Hammer, he has shared a truly amazing story of his early life, how he started music and his first studio experience.
Speaking on personality Profile with Lexis Bill on Joy FM, he disclosed he was often tagged the black sheep of his family as did everything bad during his Secondary School days at Presbyterian Secondary School (PreSec).
Reluctantly recounting some of his “bad ways” growing up, Da’ Hammer stated his mother was often advised to be extra vigilant of him since he was too aggressive.
“People kept telling my mum to be extra vigilant about me because I was too aggressive. I didn’t want to conform to the norm, I wanted my own rules. I didn’t want to do things under pressure. I fact, I did everything bad in my SS days….”, he said.
Speaking on how he started as a music producer, Da’ Hammer made a shocking revelation stating that his first introduction to a recording studio was kindest courtesy Obrafour. Until then his mum’s fridge was the best place to cook all the drum kicks.
“I was first introduced to a recording studio by Obrafour. Back then, the surface of my mum’s fridge was my drum and everything but Obrafour believed in me and gave me the privilege to work on his first album although I was an amateur.”
In a surprise call placed through to Obrafour, the Pae Mu Ka hit maker described Hammer as a great person.
” If there’s anyone aside God that I am indebted to, it is Hammer,” he said.
Da’ Hammer has worked with a couple of Ghanaian artists who till date remain relevant to the Ghanaian music industry.
Among such artists are Obrafour, Boli, Kwbena Kwabena, Kwaw Kese, Edem, Tinny, Sarkodie and many others.
