Franchesca Williams before leaving the country had an interview with Giovani on his morning drive show and in the interview, Sista Afia stated publicly why she chose to be a High Life musician than the ordinary female musical trend in Ghana – Dancehall.
According to her, it wont be easy for her as a lady in a male-dominated genre where we already have the likes of Daddy Lumba, Bisa Kdei, R2Bees and the rest. However, technically, there are no more female musicians in the HighLife game and filling in that space is what she is in for.
With the obstacles and sabotage she will be facing as a new face in the Highlife game, Sista Afia believes she has no choice but to get down to brass tacks, specifically in respect to delivering good High Life songs, music videos and thrilling music lovers with great stage performances,
When asked if her name, Sista Afia wouldnt be a problem for her since Ghanaians already know of one Efya, she answered.
No there is going to be no problem with that because the Efya we all know has a E-F-Y-A spelling while mine has the A-F-I-A and a sister added as well. So you see, two different hardworking ladies with a common goal, to entertain. She added
Sista Afia who believes to be a threat to other musicians bragged on air saying – Sista Afia will soon be a house-hold name and a risk to other musicians.
We have no doubt about this statement because her first music project in Ghana with Bisa Kdei titled Kro Kro No has left a lot to be desired for, and has made her repertoire somewhat complete.
Followed by the music video for Kro Kro No which had over 5,000 YouTube views in 24 hours after release tells how risky she is going to be.
Especially, with her God-giving curves.
