Ghanaian screen goddess, Yvonne Nelson some few days ago started a campaign on social media against the erratic load shedding being experienced in the country.
The actress who isn’t amused at the way the power situation is being handled, went hard to bash the government and the President for their lackadaisical attitude towards the crisis.
Since she started the campaign, her celebrity friends have joined her. Notable among them being, Comedian DKB, Lydia Forson, Sarkodie and others.
Today, it emerged that there’s going to be a vigil against DUMSOR on the 16 May, 2015. This is being organised by the actress and Ghana’s arguably best rapper, sarkodie. The protesters will converge at the University of Ghana park and then move to the Green Park around the Tetteh Quarshie interchange.
Since this news became public, many have expressed interest in joining the celebs to express their disgust at the power crisis facing the country.
It has also emerged that President Mahama will join the people to have the vigil. This was said in an interview the President had this afternoon with Kokrokoo Fm in the UK who wanted to have his view on the vigil and the campaign against DUMSOR.
The President in the interview stated that he is very much aware of the plight of Ghanaians and he’s doing everything to ensure that the problem is eradicated. Furthermore, he said he’ll join the celebrities in the match to show that he is a president who cares about his citizens.
“I have been informed about the intended protest and I must state that I’ll join them on that day to show them that I’m not sleeping but working to make things better.
This problem is my main headache and inasmuch as I try to solve it, other factors and circumstances keep making things worse but I am resolute in my quest to solve the problem once and for all. I know they think I don’t care about it, so I’ll join them so they know that I’m a man who cares.
Sarkodie is also my favorite rapper but unfortunately I haven’t been to any of his shows, so I’ll take this opportunity just in case he performs. I’m killing two birds with one stone actually.
