A leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) , Gabby Asare Otchere Darko was flogged with horse whips by the Police on Wednesday, when the at the Let My Vote Count demonstration turned violent.
On his twitter handle, Gabby also said some police officers walked up to him and attacked him with batons as well.
I was on a peaceful protest, until tear gas, water canons and police batons dispersed the crowd. Walking back, I got arrested and assaulted

Whiles in police custody, another police officer walked to me to lash me with horse whip. Later, another two attacked me with batons.

He was attacked together with other protesters after reportedly attempting to move to routes restricted by the Police.
Meanwhile twenty people including the leader of Let My Vote Count, David Asante were arrested for violating rules regarding the protest.
The demonstration was staged to demand a new voters’ register for the 2016 general elections.
