StarrFMonline.com investigations have revealed that ISIS agents in Ghana are targeting frustrated Muslim youth who are resorting to spiritual means in search of money, an act locally known as ‘Sakawa’.
The agents, according to StarrFMonline, have oriented a few influential individuals among the target youth to brainwash their friends. Many of the ‘selected trainer of trainers’ have been taken to Nigeria and other undisclosed centers for special training on hypnosis. They are occasionally allowed to chat with some members of the ISIS command in Iraq through the internet.
Among the Ghanaian agents are one Alhaji Toufiq and Osman Adda, who are widely known among the 'Sakawa community’ in Nima, Mamobi, Malam Junction and in Asawaase in Kumasi.
StarrFM sources have also revealed that potential recruits are promised quality care and massive financial support for their families while they fight in Iraq and Syria. Their children or immediate families are assured of abundance and free entry into heaven.
“Now many of the Sakawa boys are talking about it. They are promised initial spending fee and luxurious life before they travel to Syria and Iraq. Again their immediate families are assured quality life after they have left so many of the young guys are considering it especially, in the Zongos,” a source at Nima in Accra told StarrFMonline.com.
He added: “We are told they will first take them to Nigeria for preparations and some rituals before they eventually jet off to their destination. The guys also believe they will go to heaven if they fight for ISIS".
The revelations come on the back of reports that two Ghanaians have joined the militant group. Ghana’s National Security Coordinator has confirmed it.
The two recruits are one Rafiq and a 25-year-old graduate of the University of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Nazir Nortei Alema.
