The Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) is to distribute some cash to its members in line with its annual programme.
According to the Secretary of the AMWeF Board Mr J.V. Owusu, the distribution starts with the Greater Accra and Eastern regional members of AMWeF and will be followed by other regions.
AMWeF was established by the Bice Obour Osei Kufuor led MUSIGA Administration and launched at the Golden Tulip Hotel on August 9, 2013. The Fund is to assist musicians who are aged 60 and above and require support. Another category of musicians catered for by the fund are those incapacitated.
Since its establishment, AMWeF has made cash distributions to musicians across the country, organized a health screening exercise and supported ageing and incapacitated musicians in need.
Meanwhile all is set for this year’s MUSIGA Grand Ball slated for September 4 at the State House Banquet Hall. The MUSIGA Grand Ball is a fund raising event in support of AMWeF and the MUSIGA Academy. The event will be attended by captains of industry and state officials.
