Charterhouse Ghana Hits Hard at Shatta Wale’s Fan Over BET Awards Nominations

Ever since BET released this year’s nominations for the upcoming Awards, fans of Shatta haven't been happy. A fan of the self-acclaimed Dancehall king Shatta Wale was not happy his man of the year and on the throne didn’t earn a nomination and penned a scathing letter making accusations.

The staunch fan who doubles as a reporter and artist’s manager in a lengthy write accused Charterhouse of influencing organizers of the BET Awards.

Sarkodie and Stonebwoy were nominated for Best International Act (Africa).

George Quaye, PRO of Charterhouse in an interview with Pluzz FM reacting to a letter making rounds accusing his firm of influencing the BET nominations said;

“For me, one of the major or most important things in journalism is fairness and balance. I wish just that you have me on one side of the line; you’d have the gentleman that put out that "total nonsense" out there to also be on the line. I'm sure he probably have some fact that he's stating all these allegations on that he's putting on social media. I believe he's on their payroll and wished you could also put him on the line so he could emphasize where that's coming from. We’re in Ghana and what you put out there might sink into the minds of certain people, so I wish he could identify what it is that he put on social media. You put him on the line and he could clarify himself so we know it's not mere conjecture.

You need to get him on the line before I respond; so I need to know what it is that you based it on, who did you speak to at BET, who told you that etc.? To be able to sit in your comfort of your home and put such things on social media and expect that you'd be called a journalist, It is pure illiteracy if you ask me. That's why Alexander Pope of the 15th century once said that "A little learning is a dangerous thing." We can't call ourselves journalists and sit back and based on our own personal interpretations or emotions of whatever we think we know; on social media and put such "BS". It's absolutely "BS".

Do you think the BET don't know what they're about or doing? So even in any country they need to speak to someone to authenticate their nomination they will speak to one person or just one organization, really? Even we at CharterHouse when we're organizing the VGMA'S do we speak to just one organization?  Don't we engage to almost every radio station in this country? What kind of shallow thinking is this?”
