This Celebrity Soccer Weekend which sponsored/Powered by LiveWire Events and Joy Industries. And the motive of the event was to promote and support talents in terms of sports in Eastern Region.
The maiden edition of the Celebrity Soccer Weekend gala tournament which came off yesterday October 25th and was won by Stonebwoy’s Bhim Nation and emerged victorious for the first time beat R2bee Nation on penalties shootout in the finals to win the cup.
And just as the game was getting interesting and the dark was due, because there wasn’t any floodlight on the pitch, the organizers, officials and team mangers decided to play only penalties shootout. And Stonebwoy’s Bhim Nation lashed out every team he met.
Stonebwoy’s Bhim Nation was awarded with gold metals, trophy and a cash prize of ghc 5,000. R2bees Nation also won a cup and GHC2,000 for placing second. Actor Prince David Osei was voted the Best Celebrity player while Joy Industries CEO, Dr. Manfred Takyi won the best footballer of the tournament.
The Celebrity Soccer Weekend was a gala tournament at Koforidua Sports Stadium (Estadio de Koforidua) which saw teams like D-Black’s BAM Nation, Stonebwoy’s Bhim Nation, Kwaw Kese’s Mad Time FC, Tinny’s Bardman Family, Samini’s Highgrade Family, R2Bees’s R2Bees Nation, VVIP’s VVIP FC, E.L’s Bbnz Live, Gh Actors All Stars and Joy Industries.
Stonebwoy’s Bhim Nation proved that apart from music, they have got football talents too, beat all the teams he met, won mostly on penalties shoot-out.
There came a controversy after the match between Stonebwoy’s Bhim Nation vs Gh Actors All Stars, were both teams played goalless, and Bhim Nation won on penalties 4:3, but the organizers and the official were able to control the situation and settled the dispute among both teams.
The Celebrity Soccer Weekend saw big Ghanaian stars and celebrities like; John Dumelo, Samini, VVIP, R2Bees, Prince David-Osei, Rose Mensah(Kyeiwaa), Stonebwoy, Emelia Brobbey, Prayer(Kente & Big J), Kwaw Kese, D-Black, Fred Nuamah, James Gardner, Ameyaw Debrah, Pop Skinny, Dj Breezy, Sunsum, Beats DaKay,Tutulapato and more. Tinny and EL weren’t able to make it to the field. “a disclosed reason”.
