Nearly two weeks after the flood and fire disaster that claimed more than 100 lives at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, the area experienced another flooding on Sunday following a heavy downpour.
This is despite the demolition of structures supposed to be on waterways by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).
Several vehicles were seen stuck on the flooded streets, while otheres tried to push their faulty vehicles away.
The AMA began the demolition after the double (fire and flood) disaster on June 3.
People’s homes in the area were flooded, triggering an explosion at the GOIL filling station which claimed over 90 lives on the spot.
The President called for drastic measures to be taken to prevent any more of such disasters.
This led to the dredging of the Odaw river and demolitions of structures on the waterways.
But intermitted rainfall on Sunday caused another flooding in the area.
